Combat Boots Favorite at Belmont Co rries 122 Pounds In Handicap Event High Dive and Eolus Chief Rivals of Putnam Stable Runner in Route Affair BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I N. Y., May 26. The Attention Handicap, a classified event at a mile and a furlong for a ,000 purse, is the feature attraction at Belmont Park tomorrow. Putnam Stables Combat Boots, who has become an "excuse horse,"is the topweight at 122 pounds and will doubtless have a considerable following. His chief rivals appear to be King Ranchs High Dive, 119, and Lawrence W. Jennings Eolus, 112. The field is completed by C. B. Bonns Blue Hills, 119; Spring Hill Farms Teaneck Flash, 118, and Mrs. J. B. Rutherfords one-time star, Donor, 113. Combat Boots finished a close second to War Poppy in his last and had the excuse of having been taken back and circled a horse curving for home, losing speed and distance in the process. In his previous start he finished a closer second to Eolus. again losing ground at the head of the stretch while trying to go around that horse. Before that, he had Spartan Valor trouble, which is excuse enough for any horse, in the Gallant Fox at Jamaica. Eolus picks up four pounds since beating Combat Boots, who carries the same impost. This reformed jumper has been entered and scratched from races on both the flat and jumping courses since his front-running victory, but is reported traininp well. High Dive Winner of Mile Race High Dive comes from a victory in a mile race here in which he was a short-priced favorite, and turned back a .fair field, including Out Point and Homely Duke. In his previous start he finished some three lengths before Combat Boots in the Gallant Fox, receiving six pounds. No riders have been named for any of the six named for the Attention, with the exception of Donor, who will be ridden by Ted Atkinson. The veteran has not been seen since running 3 dull race in the Lucky Draw Handicap, won by Three Rings on May 2. Before that, however, he had finished a fair second to High Dive in a mile and a sixteenth test at Jamaica, in which he was receiving the same six pounds he gets tomorrow. Blue Hills finished behind Eolus and Combat Boots last out, with no apparent excuse while Teaneck Flash, usually considered a sprinter, comes from a good -race at a mile and a sixteenth, in which he tired right at the end to be beaten by Valadium.
