TURF BULL made the pace while on the extreme outside and maintained a safe advantage under punishment. SPAHI raced forwardly placed while on the rail and held on gamely, but could not menace the top one. CORRECTION was a sharp factor throughout and showed a good effort. CLEAR PATH was outrun. PRINCE TIP failed to threaten. CROSSCUT trailed. YEOMAN, A SCHEDULED STARTER, UNSEATED HIS RIDER DURING THE POST PARADE AND RAN OFF FIVE FURLONGS, THEN WAS SCRATCHED AND ALL WAGES ON HIM WERE REFUNDED. BRIGHT PASS" steadied along early, improved position on the outside when called upon and wore down BOLD REQUEST for the place. The latter tired after pressing the pace early. RUSTICATE was best of tired horses. QUAKER MEETING gave way badly in the final quarter mile. MY BOY JACKIE showed nothing. GAL0RE GALORE failed to reach a contending position. SYRACUSE LAD, repeatedly put to pressure from shortly after the start to maintain command, oufgamed BYNG in the finish run. The latter, never far back under good restraint, went upt on "the outside to challenge boldly, but was not good enough. JOSEPH BRANT saved ground while well placed, swung from the inside and tried to go between the leaders, but was blocked nearing the final obstacle, then came again when clear on the inside. SALEMAKER had no excuse. QUIET, allowed to drop far back early, closed with a belated rush. MASTER MARINER, tired after racing forwardly placed until the seventh hurdle. SWEET GODDESS raced forwardly placed until nearing the furlong post and weakened. JUDY DUNSTAN tired. SELECTIVE pressed the pace early and gave way. HAILSTONE turned in a poor effort. Won driving; second and third the same. VALADIUM was steadied after a furlong when outrun for the lead, went through on the rail to displace BUSANDA and won fully extended. TOTO, never far back while being reserved, moved up on the outside and was forced wide leaving the turn, then was gradually getting to the winner. BUSANDA made the pace until midway of the turn, where she began to drift out, continued to go wide and sulked when punished leaving the turn, then gave way. HITEX went into a clear lead shortly after the start, made the pace on his own courage until entering the stretch, then drifted out while hard punished in the drive. PRIMATE made up ground steadily on the inside, threatened about 30 yards from the wire and hung. HEAP BIG CHIEF, withing striking distance while on the outside, lacked a menacing rally in the drive. WHITHER was slow to gain best stride. MASTER FIDDLE went by tired horses. JET A DANDY went well for a half mile and gave way, as did DUSTY DARLIN. NATHANIEL made the pace from the start, drew out rapidly in the stretch and increased the margin between calls in the final furlong and was placed under hard restraint from shortly after the sixteenth post until the wire. BROWN DALTON was well placed, but was no match for the winner. SHALLOW BROOK, unprepared at the break, went up on the inside to be closest to the pace and tired in the drive. DEVOTIONAL was outrun.
