4 INTENT Brookfield Farm star, who has the Santa Anita Maturity, San Juan Capistrano and the Forty-Niners Handicap to his credit, has been assigned top weight of 126 for the Hollywood Gold Cup. Intent Hollywood Gold Cup Topweight With 126 Pounds to Lights Ups 124 Greek Ship Third High at 727 and Miche Next at 720 For 00,000 Race July 72 By W. A. WILLIG Itaff Correspondent HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 26. The Brookfield Farms Intent and C. H. Jones and Sons Lights Up, who at this time are the two leading candidates for the Western Handicap championship, are the topweights as racing secretary John Malu-vius rated them for the 00,000 Hollywood Gold Cup, Californias big mid-summer special for- three-year-olds and older horses. Intent has been assigned 126 pounds for the run of a mile and a quarter, whose renewal is scheduled for July 12, and Lights Up 124. This two-pound differential is just one i more than that which separated these stars in two titanic struggles they waged this spring at Golden Gate Fields. They met twice at the Albany track and each time they finished a nose apart with Intent carrying 126 pounds to 123 for the Jones horse. In their first meeting, over the mile and an eighth of the Forty-Niners Handicap, Intent got the decision by a matter of inches and in their second, over the mile and a quarter of the Golden Gate Handicap, Lights Up was returned the winner, again in a hairline decision. Pegged just three pounds under lights Up with 121 pounds is the Brookmeade Stables-Eastern handicap star, Greek Ship, who is reported to have serious designs on the Gold Cup. Last week Hollywood had word that Greek Ship definitely would be i ! shipped west for the big race. Mrs. J. P. Adams Miche, who was awarded victory in the last Santa Anita Handicap through the disqualification of Intent, must shoulder 120 pounds in the Gold Cup, while handed just a pound less was Mr. and Mrs. W. C. -Martins versatile Phil D., another star of the Santa Anita season. Joe Falmi-sanos Australia importation Classowa, a big stakes winner Down Under, drew 118 pounds, and from there the imposts scale downward to 100 pounds. The complete list of weights follow: Horse.
