New Filly Harness Stakes Will Gross 00,000 Four Each to Be Run at Goshen; Springfield, Sedalia, Indianapolis COLUMBUS, Ohio. A new series of trotting, and pacing stakes for two- and three-year-old iillies will gross close to 00,000 this year, it was announced today by the U. S.. Trotting Association. . The nomination lists for the stakeswere filed with the USTA by H. J. Van Gundy of Pu Quoin, HI., executive secretary of The Trotting Horse Club of America. A total of 246 fillies was nominated. Inaugurated by breeders and track operators because of the demand among owners for races designed exclusively for fillies, the new stakes will lie contested annually at a half dozen Grand Circuit tracks between New York and Missouri. The. stakes schedule consists of 24 separate events, four apiece at each track. The series will be launched during Hambletonian week at Goshen, N. Y., August 4-10 and will continue for six weeks after that at Springfield, HI. Illinois State Fair ; Sedalia, Mo. Missouri State Fair ; Du Quoin, HI.; Indianapolis Indiana State Fair and Delaware, Ohio. Four separate events, one for each age and gait division, will be staged at each of the Grand Circuit stops with individual purses ranging between ,000 and 0,000. Heaviest entry was received at Delaware, where the two-year-old pace already is worth ,340 as a result of sustaining payments made to date. To each purse at each track will be added the starting fees, 00 in the two-year-old events and 00 in the three-year-old races. At least 10 fillies are expected to start in every race at each track. Breeders sponsoring the new stakes are The Ohio Breeders Association, Newport Stock Farm, Castleton Farm, Gainesway Farm, Poplar Hill Farm, Two Gaits Farm, Walnut Hall Farm and Walnut Hall Stud. The filly stakes at Sedalia are being sponsored by The Old Country Trotting, Association of Westbury, N. Y.
