Money Well Spent LEXINGTON, Ky., May 26. A number of. years ago Leslie Combs TJ. advised Mrs. Elizabeth Graham to buy a yearling colt by Blenheim TJ. Black Wave which was offered at the Keeneland sales by A. B. Hancock and Nydrie Stud. The owner of Maine Chance Farm accepted his advice, paying 1,000 for the colt, a price many people think too high for any yearling. But the colt was Jet Pilot, who went to the races to win more than 00,000, including the Kentucky Derby. Returned to Spendthrift Farm to enter stud, Combs syndicated him last year for 00,000. So it sometimes pays to give 1,000 for a thoroughbred yearling.
