HASHALONIA quickly challenged the leaders, wrested command on the final turn and, after establishing a clear lead, continued evenly. SPRING MORN never was far back, loomed boldly when set down for the dirve, but could not get up. RIDGE RUNNER was a forward factor and held on evenly. POES POEM began fast, but could not hold the winner after a half mile and weakened. GAME DAME gave an even effort. HOPEFUL SUE had no excuse. CALLUNA began sluggishly. ANN DEL gave a dull effort. OFF AT 3:031 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. MELANESIAN was allowed to settle in best stride racing behind the first flight, rapidly circled around the leaders on the stretch turn to challenge and, despite lugging in, drew clear. HIGH HATTER was hard hustled in an attempt to match her drive with that of the winner, swung sharply to the inside at the head of the stretch, then swerved under punishment, but finished well. CONFEDERACY began alertly and held sway into the stretch, then was crowded slightly between the top pair and weakened. An objection lodged by the rider of CONFEDERACY against both HIGH HATTER and MELANESIAN was not allowed. ADMIRATION gave an even effort without menacing the leaders. PETITE LASSIE dashed into a long lead soon after the start, drifted very wide on the turn and into the stretch and lasted under punishment while tiring. HER CHANCE began alertly, improved position racing between horses, then saved ground pursuing the winner in the stretch, but could not get up. RED-EMPEROR was unable to seriously contend early, but closed fast at the end. SLAM THRU raced within striking distance, but was not good enough. HELEN MAY was hustled along while unable to seriously contend early, swung to the outside of the leaders for the stretch drive, then closed fast and wore down PHOENICIA at the end. PHOENICIA raced closest to the pace, drifted out on the final turn, then lugged in when punished in the stretch, reached the front and just failed to last. GIGOLO saved ground and loomed boldly in midstretch, but hung. DANUBE easily had the most early speed, but faltered in the last eighth. STAG was outrun. FRENABILBEPA was steadied when outsprinted by ISTAN early, easily put that one away on the turn and then lasted under steady handling to best PENNANT DAY. The latter was a forward factor under brisk handling and finished gamely. BLUE KAY steadily worked her way into closer contention and finished well. MR. BUSTER was forced back slightly racing next to the rail on the turn, then closed well when clear, but hung. LORD NORTH was impeded at the far turn. IMAMAZED began sluggishly. Won driving; second and third the same COMMON CAUSE was reserved while outrun early, steadily made up ground when ready and responded to vigorous hand urging to outfinish FREEDOM BELL. The latter, also in hand while outrun, saved all possible ground while rallying in company with the winner, but was not good enough. SCOBEYVILLE, loosely handled and changing stride after being hustled into a commanding lead, set a good pace and had nothing left for the finish. RARELEA was a forward factor and tired.
