MARTIN WHELAN went to the front at once and, racing well in the going, successfully withstood repeated challenges from FAIR PORTER in the first five furlongs, but was all out at the end to hold SHINING DEED. The latter was some distance removed from the pace to the stretch turn, but came very, fast on the outside in the last furlong and was gaining with every stride. FAIR PORTER liked the going, but weakened slightly nearing the end. PERCIVALE was never too far removed, but failed to threaten. WOOD H was unable to keep up. DREAM CREAM, close up from the start, moved fast target to the front after entering the stretch and drew out near the end as if much the best. ASHES was away well, btu was unable to keep up, although having little trouble passing the others in the stretch. FANCY FILLY raced up on the outside in the first furlong and held a fairly prominent position thereafter. BIG EYED set the pace for half the distance, then began to weaken. BOO WHO, off alertly, moved up to BABYS DELIGHT on the inside after going a quarter and, taking command nearing the stretch turn, saved ground thereafter, but was hustled along to hold LOCAL CORNER. The latter trailed early, became a contender on the stretch turn and. finishing fast next to the rail, was gaining. BABYS DELIGHT displayed unexpected courage after being headed and went well to the finish. ADMIRALS WAVE weakened in the stretch. MISS ZILT held a forward position throughout in a creditable effort. SAND FLY closed ground in the stretch. ROVING KIND failed to be a contender. PSYCARY had speed to the stretch, then tired. LIKE HOVER moved up steadily on the outside after entering the stretch and appeared in front entering the final eighth, but was unable to last. HAPPY EAST saved ground in the stretch to finish fairly well. FOX LAIR closed a gap. SWAP OUT tired in the stretch. COYNES EDGAR was badly outrun. W. went to the front at once and, after making the pace under slight restraint, drew out when the stretch was reached and was not in serious danger thereafter. GENERAL STAFF, outrun early, came wide on the stretch turn, then made a good run on the outside in the last eighth and was gaining, although not threatening. RADO KID saved ground nearing the stretch turn and moved up at midstretch to go steadily to the end. OIL CAPITOL trailed to the stretch, but was running strongly at the end. ARIS M0NA, showing a decided liking for the going, got through on the inside of ROMAN BATH after going a quarter and, withstanding a mild . challenge from ROMAN FAIR after entering the stretch, drew out from the latter in the last sixteenth. ROMAN FAIR moved up -strongly on the inside nearing the stretch turn and saved much ground on the turn to loom as a strong contender, but was not good enouah. JUMBO was unable to keep up early, but was going fairly well at the end. THE GINK finished with good courage. ROMAN BATH tired badly in the stretch. GOLDEN BIRCH seemed to be outclassed. JACKS BANNER was outrun early, , but came strongly on the outside through the stretch to catch AURORA DEB in the last fifty yards. AURORA DEB followed ARCHIBALDO closely to the stretch, then went to the front, but weakened near the end and just lasted to save second place.
