Several New Arrivals At Fairmount Course Mikel and Creech Augment Units; Others Also Receive Additions By C. A. LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, CollinSVUle, 111., June 20. — With the opening of the meeting on June 27 now only a week away, the better stables are now assembling here at the Collinsville course. Among the new stables that will be seen in action here during the long meeting of 48 nights is J. D. Mikels, who is adding six more better class horses to his stable which will make 13 head that he will be campaigning here. The Mikel stable is a welcome addition from the fact that all the horses are winners and run in the better grade races. Another stable that will be in prominence is the powerful Bennett Creech stable from Chicago which consists of six head. The Creech stable is headed by Grey Mike, who races in ,000 claiming price bracket. Other recent arrivals were Jack Goldstein with four head that were shipped here from Detroit; A. Kelem stable from Hawthorne; Martin Level with six head from Arlington Park; E. H% Moody is adding several head to his now large stable; Mrs. E. Muckler, a local sportswoman, is also adding several head, the Muckler stable being headed by Ruthred. Another local unit which consists of 15 head is the powerful Silver Creek Stable. The riding colony will remain practically the same with the additions arriving mainly from Ak-Sar-Ben which concludes their meeting on July 4. River Downs at California, Ohio, will also contribute a few of the better riders headed by the veteran William Owen who rode with excellent success at the fall meeting last year. Willie Carstens, one of the top flight riders in the Middlewest, announced that he is contemplating a Fairmount Park campaign. Currently one of the leading riders at Water-ford Park, the Iowa veteran is one of the most improved riders of the present season. Melvin Duhon, who rode with moderate success during the repair period at Arlington Park, will return as will Leon Grand-sart, last years top rider and the promising Anthony Iudica who was in first place for riding honors when the wind storm interrupted the sport at the local oval.
