J., June 24. — Saturdays starting field in the 5,000 added Monmouth Handicap prom-2 ises to be the largest in the modern-day running of the mile and a quarter stakes event. Thoroughbreds are converging on the seashore oval from all points of the East, and an early rundown of eligibles finds that from 10 to 14 are in serious training and apparently pointing for the week-end fixture.
