LIBRAB was always formidable and fought it out gamely. SPEEDY VAN set the pace and held on tenaciously. JOHNS ADMIRAL failed to menace the top ones while closing ground. ROAMING raced in close attendance to the pace of EXCHEQUER, wrested command in the early stretch and outfinished MERRY MOUNT. The latter engaged the leader from the inside, but was not good enough. LADY CAROLINA lacked a late spurt JOYMAKER closed considerable ground. LAVENDER HILL was unable to handle the going. LILY M. flattened out through the stretch, as did PACIFIC OCEAN.
