Fast Field of Seven In Ascot Big Four Groce Morse, Permanence, See D., Honeylight, Royal Donna Match Speed Today By V. A. CKI SEV i Staff Correspondent I ASCOT PARK. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, j June 14. The MOOl Big Four holds thr spotlight on tomorrows eight race card and I ironi all indications t will be one of thej most keenly contested affairs of the current meeting It is half ยป furlong shorter than the setting for last year, and at six and one- | half furlongs has drawn seven on the over- i night of the ,600 down to ,400 platers . I The A. and H. Stables Grace Morse, Virginia McKenneys Honeylight, Mrs. W. V. Reeves Air Poise. J. W. Billottes See D, E. A. Murphys Wrightstown. the Cremona Farms Permanence and Mr. and Mrs. P. Maxwells Royal Donna make up the field and it is extremely difficult to ascertain who should be in line for the bulk of support. See D.. for example, was 10 lengths the best of six other ,000 performers on June 16. Jockey R. L. Hightshoe was the He Did geldings pilot that day and as a six-to-five favorite, negotiated the seven furlongs in a good 1 : 27 1-5. A return to that effort could make him a dangerous adversary in this field even though moving up the ladder a bit in company. Beat Hoot Mon by Nose Permanence is another who has been to , the winners circle at this session. The Carrier Pigeon gelding nosed out J. Dogdans j Hoot Mon in a seven-furlong dash on June 9 and was claimed by his present owner from W. Kendrick that day for ,250. The strip was heavy for the race and his time was a j very dull 1 :34. flat. However, his one victory out of five starts last year was at six fur- i longs and over a fast track and from all predictions, the strip should be to his liking, j Ironically. Bob Rinaldi Vho trained Per- , manence. is saddling Honeylight for this affair. Honeylight s best effort to date was his.j third to Miss M. Stallards Chief McKee and Mrs. J. D. Prices Donald Young in the Turf and Sport Digest Purse at Cranwood. j The Star Beacon gelding made a strong move after going five of the seven furlongs i and came from last to be beaten only two lengths for it all. The fifth race on the card is an excellent co-feature attraction. For three-year-olds and older horses, it will be run over th,e Ascot course distance of about four and one-half furlongs. The field is extremely light with but six drawn overnight. Prominent in this group is A. W. Messer-smiths Fleeting Rock who finished second to her stablemate. Scrub, in the Ascot Classic Handicap. That was at seven furlongs and Fleeting Rock was four on top at the five furlong marker. In her wake were some of the best campaigning at this meeting, including the A. and H. Stables Garrymark. and Mrs M. Pauls Make Haste, along with Solar Lad. Lonesome Gal and Glitter Gukh. Off that race Fleeting Rock would very probably be a prohibitive favorite as the field goes postward.
