Gehrmann in Olympic Trials As Home Towners Back Trip MILWAUKEE, Wis., June 24 UP. — Track star Don Gehrmann made plans today for his trip to Los Angeles and the 800 meter Olympic trials, a trip made possible by financial backing from the slim distance runners home town. , Gehrmann had said he would be unable to go to the trials, which will be held Friday, because he couldnt afford the expenses of the trip. Word of his plight got into the newspapers, and many Milwaukeeans responded with offers, of help. The first offer came from Erwin C. Uihlein, president of Schlitz brewery, who said the brewery would put up the entire 00 needed. Gehrmann accepted the offer. Many of the other persons who offered to help said they would turn the money they had planned to give Gehrmann over to the general Olympic fund to send American athletes to the Olympic games.
