RAIDER LaRUE trailed the field down the backstretch and was outrun to the last quarter, then gained steadily on the outside to catch MARABOUT weakening near the finish and won easily. SLUMBERLAND improved her position steadily in the middle of the track through tt.e stretch and was going well at the end. MARABOUT made most of the pace, but had little left EXCELSIS was in rather tight quarters early and lacked speed, but was going well at the finish. FUN QUEST reached contention in the stretch and went evenly thereafter. OSCULADY made up ground. PERCIVALE reached a forward position on the outside on the stretch turn, then raced wide. INVIGORATOR was under steadying restraint to the stretch turn, then came to the middle of the track and had little trouble passing the early leaders to win with something in reserve. WILDCAT SAM raced on the outside most of the way, but finished gamely. NYLON CREPE was badly outrun to the last eighth, then closed with a rush. ASCENT, well placed early, dropped back a trifle nearing the stretch turn, then came to the outside after rounding the turn to wear down the leaders and won going away. MELLO JACK lacked much early speed, but made a very strong move after entering the stretch to catch BARBARA L, but was unable to resist the winner. SHOW RING came out on the stretch turn and weakened thereafter. BARBARA L. tired badly in the final furlong. CAPTAIN CARVER was never dangerous. VANTAGE broke on top,"continued strongly on the outside after being headed and. catching NIGHT-PHARA on the stretch turn, opened up a long lead to finish far in front and racing easily. BLUE REVOKE was a forward factor all the way, but appeared to be tiring at the end. KING BEAST finished fast and gamely and wouid have been second in a few more strides.
