Bob Kennon signs the amended racing bill, which provides for additional revenue to the track on the lower brackets of betting. The Governor will sign the bill later in the week, reports from Baton Rouge say. "We have interesting plans to announce," said executive vice-president Anthony Pel-5 leteri, but of course, all depends on final passage of the bill and it would be un- ethical to presume the Governor will sign it." It is expected that Fair Grounds offi-. cials will request dates for an 82-day meet-1 ing, beginning on November 27, 1952, and ending March 14, 1953. Four Mondays will be included, the Monday before Christmas, the one before New Years Daythe Mon-; day before Mardi Gras and the one follow-. ing Washingtons Birthday, February 23. Under the amended bill the Fair Grounds race track will retain the entire 13 per cent deducted from the first 0,000 handled each day; 11 per cent of the next 00,000, 8 per cent of the next 0,000, 7 per cent of the next 0,000 and 6 per cent of all above the 30,000. Such an adjustment would assure the track of something like 6,000 on an average handle of 00,000. Tentative plans call for a minimum purse of ,500, and it is almost a foregone conclusion that if the track nets 6,000 per day its purse distribution will average at least 5,000.
