; - Our Request Has Only Four Rivals White and Thomas Mare Faces Suffki and Bee Lee Tee in Petoskey Purse at Detroit By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent DETROIT, Mich., June 24. — Our Request, who races under the silks of Mrs. George White and E. W. Thomas, tops a field of five slated to clash here tomorrow afternoon in the. Petoskey Purse. Under the conditions of the mid-week mile feature, Our Request, a six-year-old daughter of Requested and Inspiration, will shoulder 115 pounds, which is two less than that of A. and M. Craigs hard-hitting Suffki. Our Request and Suffki are expected to go to the post choices over the trio named to oppose them. While the top-seeded pair certainly appear well-placed, each would have to turn in a smart race to achieve major honors. Theodore D. Buhls Detroit-owned five-year-old stallion, Bee Lee Tee, who has been showing marked improvement in recent engagements, gets in with 111 pounds, an impost he can handle capably. John Gibson Farms Princess Dare, a strong finisher, is the Petoskey Purse lightweight at 103 pounds, while Marion H. VanBergs Miss Bobbin completes the small but shifty band, and she will carry 106 pounds. Lois Cook on Our Request Our Request, a stakes winner during the 1950 and 1951 seasons, is to be ridden tomorrow by Lois C. Cook, while Suffki will have the saddle services of Tommy Barrow, presently leading rider here. William Mc-Kinley Cook is engaged for Princess Dare, Gerald Champagne will guide Bee Lee Tee, and Alfred Popara may ride Miss Bobbin in the Petoskey. Barrow and Lois Cook are in a heated struggle for local top riding honors and the Florida-born Barrow was two up on Cook when racing began today. The eight-furlong Schoolcraft Purse, decided here June 18, proved that Our Request again has reached peak form. Only a head separated the leaders at the final marker with Brown Rambler carrying 107, while Suffki packed 119 pounds. Previous to his defeat in the River Rouge, Suffki was good enough to whip a good field in the Ham-?r tramck Purse, streaking the six furlongs in 1:11%. Bee Lee Tee, who bowed to Suffki in the Hamtramck, won five races last season, but he has been unable to hit the winners ring thus far this year, although he was close in recent outlings. The Buhl stallions best performance here was a second to Air Flight an June 20, in which event he was beaten a neck.
