THIRD DIVISION headed the field after going a short distance and stole away on the backstretch, then saved ground on the stretch turn, but was all out to win narrowly. NITRO FIRE dropped back after going a quarter, then moved up and, although racing wide on the stretch turn, finished strongly and just failed to get up. STARBOROUGH dropped back after going half the distance, then came again but was forced wide by NITRO FIRE in the stretch. ROSAMUNDA II. made up some ground. GALLANT D. failed to be a serious contender. COPPER PLATE and SOUTH COVERT tired. Starborough claimed by L. C. MacGregor and F. E. Arnold. Rosamunda II. claimed by W. H. Bishop. FRISK was rated within striking distance of the leaders to the final quarter, then moved to take command rounding the stretch turn, and shaken up near the finish, held REBEL RAIDER. The latter made a strong run on the outside nearing the last turn and although losing ground in the stretch, finished with good courage. WISEVIEW was outrun early, but came resolutely in the late stages. STRADA was required to ease back while racing on the inside around the far turn but came again in a gocd effort. BLUE AGENT tired.
