NEROS MERMAID gave a good effort and had no excuse. D0NKE SERENADE was outrun. COAL HEAT broke slowly. MR DUDE began fast, raced forwardly placed to the stretch, then gave way. THE GINK gradually worked way forward to the stretch, responded to brisk urging during the drive and, disposing of BAMA GIRL, held GOLDEN TREND safe. GOLDEN TREND lacked early speed, was forced to take up when blocked near the half-mile pole, then was sent to the outside to secure racing room and closed strongly, but could not get to the winner. OUR CHALLENGE, a keen factor from the start, held on well in a good effort and had no excuse. GAY HUNTER was unable to better his position when set down through the stretch. BAMA GIRL took command at the break, set the pace until inside the stretch, but gave way when challenged by THE GINK. CAPTAIN BUD was never dangerous. SPY RING made a bold bid nearing the stretch, but failed to stay when set down in the drive. PAT-THE-PILOT could not keep up after showing early speed. Overweight— Captain Bud, 1 pound; Spy Ring, 2. ZEBINA went wide at the stretch turn but closed fairly well when straightened up for the drive. VENTURESOME made a good bid in the early stretch, then faltered. LONGDEN tired after showing early speed. MIBELAIRE, forced back immediately after the start, failed to recover. COURT T. had early foot. SMART EVE drifted out entering the stretch. EOLIA raced wide.
