Shoemaker Guides Trusting For 92nd Tanforan Winner TANFORAN, San Bruno, Calif., May 11. — Willie Shoemaker, who set a hot pace for his contemporaries throughout the Tanforan meeting, wound up his activities here with a total of 92 winning mounts, a new record for a single season at a northern California race course. After riding 10 win- ners in the two previous days, Shoemaker managed to break into the charmed circle once on Saturdays closing day program, but that victory came in the associations stellar stake, the Tanforan Handicap. More than 21,000 fans, the highest for the spring meet, was on hand on the weekend to see Shoemaker move Trusting, Mrs. Rea Warners own brother of On Trust, into command when settled for the stretch run in the Tanforan and the son of Alibhai completed the mile and a furlong in l:502s to score over Home Free by a length, with Indian Hemp third. Not only was the crowd the biggest this spring, but the total for the meet was some 22 per cent above that of last year. The total mutuel handle of ,-454,012 on closing day set a new single day record for this historic course, and the daily average was 54,933.
