ROYAL BAY GEM, trailing the field and slew to settle in stride, picked up speed down the backstretch, saved ground to the final turn, then swung outside horses, was carried to the middle of the track at the head of the stretch, but closed gamely and was rapidly going away in the last sixteenth. PARK DANDY was rated in a contending position, rallied between horses on the stretch turn and finished Determinedly to best BETTER GOODS. The latter was reserved off the early pace, lost ground moving strongly on the final turn and lacked a closing rally. COUNTY CLARE easily went to the front when DANDOLO faltered, held on gamely under punishment to midstretch and weakened. HUESO raced wide outside the top pair, did not respond when called upon and weakened. SOCIAL OUTCAST was outrun. DANDOLO had his usual speed and quit. The latter was closing strongly when blocked on the inside rounding the final turn, eased back and to the extreme outside and then could not get up. ISOGRADE came from far back.
