MURPHY HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 22.— For the first week-end program of its current meeting at Hawthorne, the Lincoln Fields Racing Association tomorrow presents the twenty-sixth running of the Joliet Stakes in two divisions and the 0,-000 Peabody Prep, the latter fashioned for three-year-olds eligible for the Peabody Memorial on May 30. Each division of the Joliet, first stakes race of the Illinois season for two-year-olds, is endowed with 5,000 added money. It is for colts and geldings, exclusively. The first division drew 11 starters, with 10 slated to go in the second section. Eleven were named for the Peabody Prep, which is at one and one-sixteenth miles. In the division of the Joliet the two arch rivals, Everett Jr. and Mr. Prosecutor, both drew into the second section. S. Dealings Top Again. While the Peabody Prep was intended as a preliminary race for candidates for the 0,000 Peabody Memorial it was left open to other three-year-olds and one outsider was entered. This was H. D. Maggios Set Shot, and he may give the stakes nominees all they will want in the way of competition. He has won five races this season, the last three in a row. The Peabody nominees entered for the Prep are: H. N. Eads Sir Mango, Mrs. O. S. Demings Thaxter, W. C. Tacketts Frosty Face, T. M. Daniels Ace Destroyer, Dixianas Berseem and Spy Defense, Sam E. Wilsons Pick and Play and Oil Gusher, Hasty House Farms Platan and Torch of War. The Hasty House owners, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Reuben, of Toledo, Ohio, recently purchased Platan from George D. Widener and Torch of War from Ogden Phipps. Both won earlier in the year prior to their purchase.
