LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 22. — Chief attraction on the nine-race program here at Fairmount Park Saturday night will be the St. Louis-Handicap. This race closed Thursday with seven topnotch sprinters nominated to compete at six furlongs for a ,500 purse. The St. Louis Handicap is fashioned for three-year-olds and upward and from the way racing secretary Jack Klucina has weighted the field giving the Sussanne Stables Dr. Felix top impost of 117 pounds, it is certain to be a hard fought battle. Dr. Felix, a four-year-old son of Devil Diver drew 117 pounds against 114 which his closest rival Harry-Lou will pack. Taking into account his recent races at Sportsmans Park and New Orleans meetings, Dr. Felix is highly regarded by his stable and with good racing luck should be the one they are going to have to contend with. Threatening rains may put the racing strip in a muddy condition but the Sussanne Stable sprinter can handle the mud as well as the fast going. H. Schroeder is sending his fleet seven-year-old Harry-Lou out against this speedy field hoping to annex his first victory this season. Harry-Lou has been turning in some very fast morning trials this past week, his best being a very impressive half mile in which he went in :471/5, handily. Harry-Lou is by the high ranking sire Half Crown which should make him at home in most any kind of going. His weight is 114 pounds. G. and J. Hejna will have as their representative fleet sprinter Laughing Fox who will be making his third start of the year. The Hejna hope will have 110 up at post time and is not to be taken too lightly against a field of this calibre. Laughing Fox raced with better-than-average success here last season and from his recent races should offer stiff opposition. Completing the field for the ,500 St. Louis Handicap will be other stout competitors such as Texas Rain from the stable of E. Melancon, with 107 pounds. Texas Rain won a sprint race at New Orleans last March, and appears to be ready for a tough race. Texas Rain moves up on an off-track and has plenty of early foot. rilstay, owned by F. Corrigan, who will have 108 pounds as his impost, comes to this event as a two-time winner at the recent Sportsmans Park meeting, Fancy Food from the stable of D. H. McClean has some good workouts since arriving here and with 106 pounds up looms as a serious contender. J. G. Logsdons Texas Flash gets in with the feather of 102. This three-year-old filly won her last out at the Sportsmans Park meeting and although in over her head she is capable of giving a good account of herself. ; ! i i i i i • : : ! : » . • • ; i • l • I t ■ • • I
