I I , , I : ; Nightingale in Hustling Three-Length Victory Gains Front-Running Tally Over Kentucky Comet at Ascot Park ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 22. — M. C. Pierces Nightingale, given a fine hustling ride by jockey Willie Downs, came through with a front-running thre-length tally in one of todays better races. He Wolf was second three and one-half lengths before Kentucky Comet at the end fo the six and one-half furlong test. Time for the race was 1:25 over a sloppy track and the mare returned 2.40. It was another in the long line of miserable afternoons with rain falling most of the day and a cool wind blowing in from the south. A good Friday crowd of 3,400 was on hand. The racing was not quite as formful as it has been earlier in the week, with only one "fave" scoring through the sixth race. Nightingale, broke third in this event, but soon thereafter moved to the front by a healthy three-length margin while on the backstretch. She saved ground on the turns, was hustled at the head of the stretch when He Wolf made his bid, but she was worthy of the challenge and once again drew clear by a trio of lengths. Nightingale by winning has now won six races in 19 starts this season for trainer Bill Bell. She was very consistent last season also when she had her picture snapped on eighth occasions. Nightingale is by the Germand sire Nordlicht and is only to be used for racing purposes. Gordon Pearces War Hero gelding, Sydney H., showed his liking for a sloppy track in the third race and romped home by thre lengths over Cinfree at four and one-half furlongs. Sydney H., wdas ridden by Norman Hart, saved ground throughout and was much the best. The winner was the top heavy choice and paid .40. Pearce lost the gelding following the race as he was claimed by Marie Trusso for ,250.
