Fiore, a slam-bang type of fighter, will be facing in Whitewater a fast-moving and clever 147 pounder, who is always boring in, and who is noted for his powerful two-fisted punching. Fiore has an impressive ring record of 54 fights, 36 victories, 13 losses and five draws. Tonight will be his first Chicago showing, and the former bootblack from New Yorks lower East Side, will be fighting for the right to meet Gil Turner in Madison Square Garden in early June. He has defeated Vic Cardell, Freddy Faiello, and recently fought a sizzler with Jimmy Martinez. His meeting last December with Chico Vejar was a sizzling affair, with Vejar lucky to escape with a close 10-round verdict over Fiore. First Venture Outside California "Chief" Archie Whitewater, an experienced West Coast campaigner, has never fought outside of California in all of his 70 professional fights. His manager, Syd Flaherty, hopes to be able to keep his fighter working here in this part of the country, and wants to start with a victory over Fiore tonight.
