Bubbley Arrives At Delaware Park Calumet 3-Year-Old Filly Seeks Oaks; Mark-Ye-Well, Real Delight in Shipment STANTON, Del., May 22.— Bubbley, one of Calumet Farms most distinguished color-bearers and a leading contender ror the , 1953 three-year-old filly championship, arrived at Delaware Park today from Louisville to seek additional prestige in the rich Delaware Oaks on Memorial Day. The early-closing mile and one furlong stake will feature the second day of Delaware Parks 32-day meeting. May 29 through July 4, and is scheduled to mark the first appearance of the famed devils red and blue silks here. The Oaks is expected to gross at least 0,000, including 0,000 in added money. It promises to bring a fourth 1953 clash between Bubbley and Mrs. Ada L. Rices Cerise Reine, another strong candidate for the sophomore filly crown. Cerise Reine arrived here last Monday. Star-Studded Shipment Accompanying Bubbley were two other renowned Calumeters representing Mrs. Gene Markey, Mark-Ye-Well, winner of the 1953 Santa Anita Handicap, Maturity and San Fernando stakes in California, and Real Delight, who dominated last seasons three-year-old filly division. These two have no stake engagements at Delaware and, according to their exercise rider, Don Devinee, who brought the horses here, they wont be ready to return to racing for some time. Mark-Ye-Well, he said, was just recently placed under saddle again, while Real Delight started galloping at Keeneland. Head trainer Ben Jones is expected here in several days to take charge of the horses, who shipped well by train. Bubbley, as a juvenile, won three of four starts, including the Pollyanna and Debu-tate Stakes, and was second in the Lafayette Stakes. This season, the homebred daughter of Bull Lea — Delight was ill for a time in March, but recovered quickly. Since then, she and Cerise Reine met three times 1 in Kentucky. On April 9 at Keeneland, Bubbley was second and Cerise Reine third to Task Fleet in an overnight event. At the same track on April 15, Cerise Reine was first and Bubbley second in the Ashland Stakes. Then, on May 1 at Churchill Downs, Bubbley lead Mrs. Rices ace home I in the Kentucky Oaks at a mile and a sixteenth.
