WAR ATOM, a sharp factor from the beginning, took up sharply when in close quarters nearing the three-furlong marker, recovered gamely and, after gaining command inside the stretch, won drawing away. SAILORS CHOICE moved up with a rush to take the lead entering the stretch, was unable to withstand the winner when urged, but easily bested the others. BAR-SARD, away sluggishly, worked his way forward between horses, but lacked the necessary rally. GUIDING caught tiring horses. MISS BARON, much used early, had little left VOCABULARY had no apparent excuse. SKY POWER was outrun as was CHARING ROCK. CARDEV dropped back immediately after the start. DIRECT HIT was not unduly persevered with when hopelessly beaten. LONGLEAT, reserved back of the early pace, moved up boldly when set down for the drive, but lacked the necessary rally. DICTIONARY tired. DIAMOND HEAD never was formidable. ORSINI guit.
