Changes in Suffolk Stewards, RacingSecretarysDept.Coming SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 27. — Judge John C. Pappas, president of Suffolk Downs, visited the press box today and announced to members of the press that important changes would be made in the official family here before another season rolls around. Another important announcement was forthcoming when Pappas stated that it is his intention to get together with the heads of Narragansett Park, Lincoln Downs and Rockingham Park to work out an amicable schedule for 1954 in which the East Boston plant would run split meetings. Asked to be more specific in his remarks about the official family the judge stated that he was not satisfied with the operation of the stewards stand or the racing secretarys department and that the changes would be made in those departments. Prior to the visit of Judge Pappas, racing secretary O. E. Pons announced that he had tendered his resignation and would not be a candidate for the post in 1954, Pons currently is racing secretary at Rockingham Park.
