MURPHY Littletown Gains New Recognition Ken Among Weil Horses at Track Sidney Jacobs Due With Hueso ARIJNGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, June 27. — Howard Reineman, master of the Crown Crest Farm at Lexington, Ky., and a prominent figure in the steel business in Chicago, has returned to the farm after at-tending a dispersal sale. Reineman reports ■tfmmmmm, unusual interest in his newly acquired stallion, Littletown, which he obtained for 00 at the M. A. Kern dispersal. Since then, Little-town has gained a degree of national recognition by the feats of the filly, Jay Jay Gee, one of his get. -Originally, he did not intend to stand Littletown at Crown "Crest, but numerous inquiries have caused him to reconsider, although his-plans are not yet definite. Jay Jay Gee was the winner of the Miss America Stakes at Lincoln Fields, and presumably is regarded as the outstanding two-year-old filly in the Middle West. Littletown has sired numerous other winners this year. For a time, Reineman had entertained ideas of allowing Littletown to return to an Illinois nursery. He is expected to make a final decision within the next two weeks. Reineman is one of the leading consignors to the Keeneland summer sales. He has 12 royally-bred yearlings listed and from now until the sales begin he is expected to remain at Crown Crest, where visitors are welcome to inspect his young stock. Trainer Frank Barnett has shipped Oread and Tops to the Beaumont Stock Farm in Kentucky to be rested up. . .Joe . L. Bollero has taken over the training of Compensation for L. L. Hollandsworth and Bracks Admiral, Voorhees Arab, and Party King for Frank Brack. . .Officers and directors of the Arlington Park Jockey Club will play host at the Post and Paddock. Club Monday night to owners, trainers, jockeys, and their wives at the annual Arlington horsemens party. Cocktails will be served starting at 6:30 p. m., with dinner and dancing to follow. . .Storm Hour, who ran in the recent hurdle race, may be the oldest active horse extant. He is 14 and was bred by his owner, Dr. J. B. Youmans, who is dean of the medical school at Vanderbilt University, and came up from Nashville, Tenn., to see Storm Hour run. Dr. Youmans also bred Storm On, another starter in the race... Mr. A. D. Plamondon III., who rode Storm Hour, suffered a broken back when he was thrown from the same horse two years ago in the Iroquois Steeplechase at Nashville . . . Carter Brown and Austin Brown, who rode the first and second horses, respectively, are brothers. . . J. B. Hillard was up from Louisville to see his Rarity run in the hurdle race. Dan Hardy brought the two-year-old Indiana "VT. from Fairmount Park. . . Twenty-five Cleveland aldermen who made the trip to Chicago to indulge in a baseball game with Chicago aldermen, attended the races Friday as guests of the Illinois Racing Board. . .Trainer R. c. Adams, who attempted to lift a stalled car from a ditch single handed, is now known as "Mi scles." And the boys are wondering where jockeys agent Gilbert Hardy acquired the nickname of "Catfish;". . .TRPB representative Bob Laughlin took a trip to Detroit to spend a few days. . .The good turf runner Ken, winner of the Trenton Handicap at Garden State, and the Exterminator Stakes at Pimlico last autumn, is on the grounds. He arrived in the shipment of Mrs. E. Kendall Weils horses that included Lord Admiralty, Gloriette, Wing Admiral, Cen-tenaire, and Skier. They came from Delaware Park. . .Smoke Screen has been added to the list of nominees for the Stars and Stripes Handicap, and Big Heart to the list for the Pollyanna Stakes. . .Schooling of horses is being conducted at Hawthorne Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 to 8:30 a. m. by Bill Simpson and Jack Caldwell, two of starter Roy Dickersons assistants. . .H. Schorr has purchased Colorado Miss from the Five Star Stable, and the mare has been sent to J. E. Poelliens farm to be turned out until September. Daniel E. Stewart, Jr., son of the well-known trainer of that name, is to be married in Chicago Saturday. He will be a guest of honor at that track Monday and will be seen in action again Tuesday. . .Trainer Dave" • Hum, who joined the ranks of the unemployed when the Red Top Stock Farm horses were sold at auction, left for his home in Arlington, Texas, where he will remain until something turns up. - Among the recent visitors were Mr. "and Mrs. Calvin Houghland, of Nashville, Tehn. . . .The second edition of the Arlington Park books are out. ..Owner L. L. Hag-gin H. left for his home in Lexington. . . J., P. Sallee is bringing 10 horses from Delaware Park. They are due to arrive Monday. . . Conn McCreary returned to New York after riding Oil Capitol in the Equipoise Mile. . .Hueso, winner of the Shevlin Stakes, is due to arrive Tuesday in charge of Sidney Jacobs. The latter is also bringing Closed Door, who was recently placed second to Thasian Hero in the Longfellow; Handicap at Monmouth, and Bobs Alibi. . . Horses for Courses note: Dean Cavy, who easily trimmed Blaze over the Hawthorn : course, was last here in a race in whicl l Blaze was second, and Honey Please, wh tired badly in her last afc the West Sid course, went all the way over the Arling- ton strip to win as she pleased.
