Big Holiday Week End at Arlington Run Stars-Stripes, Wright on July 4 Renew Pollyanna on Previous Day; Jamie K. Is Nominee For Three-Year-Old Event ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, HI., June 27. — A gala Fourth of July, weekend, the spectacular Jamie K., and three more stakes events, the Pollyanna, Warren Wright Memorial, and Stars and Stripes Handicap team up as the nucleus of Arlington Parks second week of Americas richest summer racing starting Monday. The holiday program traditionally is one of the nations biggest, and executive director Benjamin F. Lindheimer, in planning the 1953 stakes roster, made certain it would include some of the 36-day meetings choicest races. All three features, the Pollyanna oh Friday and the Warren Wright and Stars and Stripes on Saturday, July 4, are packed with name horses and future stars. Jamie K., the gallant three-year-old colt owned by James Norris Spring Hill Farm, is one of 37 nominees for the third running of the 5,000 added Warren Wright Memorial, a race honoring the late master of Calumet Farm. The Crowfoot-Sea Elf thoroughbred is due at Arlington Park Tuesday, along with other members of the Spring Hill stable trained by John Partridge. The colt finished a driving second to Native Dancer in both the Preakness and Belmont Stakes, then went on to win the Leonard Richards Stakes at Delaware Park on June 20. Both Jamie K. and Native Dancer also are announced starters in their only match of the summer season, a renewal of their duel in the 55,000 Arlington Classic here on July 18. Others Nominated for Wright The Warren Wright, seven-furlong sprint for three-year-olds, also has attracted a strong group of sophomores, including Calumet Farms Peppy Lad, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Daniels Ace Destroyer, Dixiana Farms Spy Defense and Berseem; Duntreath Farms Van Crosby, Hal Price Headleys Velure and Regal Manner, and Mrs." Ada L. Rices Eternal Quest, who won his .Arlington debut last Tuesday. Fridays Pollyanna, a five-and-one-half furlongs dash for two-year-old fillies, has lured 46 juvenile misses. Several .nominees already have indicated they are of stakes calibre. Among them are Mrs. Elizabeth J. Brisbines Debutante Stakes winner, Golly; Woodview Stables Miss America Stakes victress, Jay Jay Gee,and Mrs. O. C. Neumanns Beanir, who"captured the Tomboy Stakes. Another fancy pair of fillies named for the Pollyanna, who have already won at the current Arlington meeting, are Dixiana Farms Ladykin, and Duntreath Farms Militant Miss. In everybodys eye will be the Calumet Farms pet two-year-old filly prospect, Miz Clementine, who will try to match Calumets Bubbleys victory in the 1952 Pollyanna. Second half of the big Fourth of July program next Saturday will be the coveted Stars and Stripes Handicap, one of Americas top grass events. The 5,000 race, tabbed for a mile-and-an-eighth, has attracted 27 capable grass runners, including winners of the last two — Mrs. E. duPont Weirs Royal Governor 1951 and Sam E. Wilsons Royal Mustang 1952. Among the other topnotchers named for the Stars and Stripes are Arnold W. Hangers Chilean-bred Iceberg n., who already has won the Dixieland and Bougain-villea Handicaps at Hialeah; Duntreath Farms Whiffenpoof, another Florida winner the Inaugural Handicap at Gulf-stream, and the Hasty House Farm combination of Ruhe, Inseparable, Seaward, Cajun and Big Stretch. The last only is owned, jointly by -Mrs. Harry Trotsek. The Stars and Stripes is the -first of four major turf stakes scheduled at Arlington Park-Washington Parks 67-day coordinated meeting this,year. On July 20, Arlington presents the first running of the 5,-000 Laurance Armour Memorial, with Washington Park picking up the grass motif with the 5,000 Grassland Handicap, and the richest of all, the 0,000 Meadow-land.
