Only Heavy Cloud Burst rWill Cause Cancellation Officials of the Chicago Downs Association, which conducts the harness racing at Sportsmans Park have announced that nothing short of a heavy cloud burst will keep the sulkies from racing. In the event it doesh rain early in the evening, excellent equipment makes it possible to drain the racing strip and have it in racing condition by 8;30 post time. There has been an average of less than three postponements a year in the last four [seasons of sulky racing at Sportsmans. Director of racing Jerry Baier points out that a "wet" track is no tougher on one horse than the other. After racing at Sportsmans, most of the harness horse owners now realize that the track is safe and it is better to collect a purse on a wet track than not to race at all. JThe.Chipago Downs meet runs 42 nights, from July 6 to August 22.
