RUTHRED raced along evenly behind the first flight to the stretch, then finished gamely. AVION was hard ridden to remain within striking distance and could not get up. ATALANTA was snugly reserved setting the pace, gave way momentarily to NILUFER on the final turn, but disposed of her when urged and held on well to best GRANDMA J0SIE. The latter rapidly raced into serious contention after a half mile, drifted in and brushed with NILUFER at the head of the stretch and hung. OCCUPANCY was under strong pressure saving ground in a. forward position and lacked a rally for the drive. AESTHETE gave an even effort.
