Two Victory Horses Tally at River Downs Jockey Sackett on Three Winners Of First Four Races on Program By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 27. — The week-end crowd of 11,354 racing fans was treated to some action as hot as the sweltering weather in the early races of the day at River Downs. The parlay conscious fans in the crowd were in a victorious mood as Victory Play and Victory Breeze swept to consecutive victories in the second and third races of the afternoon and followers of leading jockey Billy Sackett gleefully cheered their rider, who won three of the first four races of the day. Sackett had to use all of his skill to keep Ville Fille a short head in front cf Musical Score in the first race of the day, as owner-trainer E. Davis mare showed the results of fine conditioning to win her first outing of the 1953 season. Ville Fille paid 2.60 for her success. F. Shults 13-year-old mare, Victory Play, started the "victory" parlay in the second and finished a 2.00 Double with Ville Fille as- she racked up her second consecutive win at this meeting. The aged matron was a length and a quarter clear of Bee Golly, who is mere 11, at the close of her sprint and paid .80 as the favorite with the crowd. Sackett put up another skillful ride in the third race, nursing Victory Breeze along to a nose victory over the favored Mercedes in a six-furlong sprint. Victory Breeze paid 1.80 for her win and made it victory number 26 for Sackett. Sackett, who is becoming quite a Saturday rider, came right back with his third of the day in the fourth race to increase his score to .27 for the meeting as he rode Easter Airline to a three-length triumph. Easter Airline was the favorite with the crowd who had begun to follow Sackett by this time, and paid .00.
