Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. RAIN assumed a clear early lead, ran out badly on the turn and still was good enough to wear down the leaders under pressure. LOVELY WAVE assumed command when the leader raced wide, bore in slightly under pressure and was no match for the winner. MISCALCULATION loomed a threat along the inside, was steadied briefly when LOVELY WAVE moved to. the inside near the furlong pole, then failed to again threaten. TARQUINA could not keep pace. HAPPY RABBIT forged to the front on the turn, drew clear to midstretch and lasted over BETJE. The latter moved from just off the pace to be getting to the winner. ORBS rally failed to seriously menace the top pair. FLICKA STAR was sluggish early and was unable to enter contention. UNATTACHED failed to rally under urging. HEDDY B. gave way after having engaged the leader on the turn. MLLE. ELL and MILLIAN quit to a walk, with the former coming out of the engagement in a lamed condition. ZEELAND, under steadying restraint early, moved well to attain command on the final turn, drew clear rapidly and was urged intermittently while retaining his lead. RUTH HANSONS rally from far back faiied to menace the winner. BLUE SHORE dueled for the lead into the stretch and gave way. GINGER BOOTS held a favorable position but lacked the necessary qualities. POST CARD enjoyed a comfortable advantage while turning in speedy fractions and held on tenaciously in the final test RISQUE ROUGE was closest to the pace and weakened only in the final three-sixteenths. BANTA joined the leader on the turn and displayed good courage in an extended drive to gain a narrow decision over POTPOURRI. The latter, unhurried early, closed gamely when able to drive between horses during the stretch run. STEAK BONE attained a commanding early lead, held on gamely when engaged but was not good enough. POOPCHA improved his position gradually to become a definite threat in the early stretch, then lacked the necessary late surge. ROYAL GOVERNOR appeared to have sufficient room while racing along the inside but was not good enough. GANY- MEDE II. moved boldly on the stretch turn, assumed the lead in midstretch and was unable to withstand the winner. WHENCE came from far back, but was no threat to the top pair. TOSCA forced the early pace, gained the lead on the stretch turn and weakened. JAN PEECK failed to rally. SAMPAN could not menace at any stage. FARANEASY was outrun. MR. MIGHTY had early speed.
