BEAMING LIGHT soon joined the leaders while racing on the outside and pulling away after leaving the backstretch, was not in serious danger thereafter, although apparently tiring at the finish. MON BAISER saved ground in the stretch to finish steadily and was gaining. MIGHTY NICE was with the pacemakers early, then dropped back nearing the stretch turn, but was best of the rest. MIRA SADOR closed some ground. HOMBRE BAY, GALENA and SCAIRT RABBIT had early speed. HIGH DRIFT showed to no advantage. Scratched— 18373 Fairn Square, 106; 070263 Leviathan, 111. CULTURE improved his position steadily in the last three-eighths and saving ground in the stretch, got through on the inside of LAST REQUEST to outfinish the latter. LAST REQUEST headed the field on the stretch turn and shook off ROAMING OSCAR, but tired near the end.. SUGAR SUE swerved to the inside at the start, then closed much ground. POLTROON, although making up some. ground, was never a threat. DINK was never a contender. ROAMING OSCAR and MADAM CROSS tired. LEA LANE soon moved to the front, raced as if much the best, opened up on her opponents at leisure and finished far in front. TEISLER was quick to leave the gate, was unable to keep up with the winner, but clearly bested the others. GALLANT RUNNER was in third position throughout, but was doing his best to hold FIRST CABIN. The latter raced steadily, but failed to threaten. The others seemed outclassed. Won easily; second and third driving. MENTAL GYMNAST went to the front at once from inside post position, soon opened up on his opponents and was never seriously threatened while winning easily. BRIGHT ANSWER saved ground where possible and responded gamely to urging in the stretch. REPARTEE made a fair move to get to the winner nearing the far turn, but was not good enough and dropped back gradually in the last eighth. BETSY BELL trailed for half the trip and passed tiring horses. LA BREEZE failed to menace. Overweight— Mental Gymnast, 1 pound; Betsy Bell, 2; To Stay, 1. Bright Answer claimed by S. Segretto. HY-PATCH, although lacking the speed to keep up with the pace was never too far away, came to the middle of the track in the stretch, closed fast and caught the early leaders tiring to win going away. BLUE RENO closed some ground and had little trouble besting the others. RITE-ONE was used up getting to the front of CHICARO BOY and had little left for the final drive. DASHEFF finished steadily. BLUE VIOLIN moved up strongly nearing the stretch turn, then came, to the outside of the early leaders to get to the front an eighth out and increased her advantage thereafter. SWIVEL HIPS -was outrun early but saved ground in the stretch to finish in a courageous fashion and bested the others. COSENTINA came fast after leaving the backstretch and bore out rather badly in the run home, but closed considerable ground. PARIS FLEET closed a gap in the stretch to be going strongly at the end. GOLLY and RESPLENDENT showed good speed in setting the pace fpr over a half mile, then weakened. JAY JAY GEE was never a serious threat and tired badly. IDLE PLATTER was rated close to the pace until after entering the stretch, then took command to draw away in the last sixteenth and win easily. FANCY GENT was caught in close quarters on the inside nearing the far turn and was required to ease back all around the stretch, then came strongly when clear to turn in an excellent effort. LEGATEE had the most early speed and, saving ground while making the pace, weakened in the final drive. DAYLIGHT TIME failed to threaten in a rather dull effort. BUSTER JIM had early speed. OLD FORGE was in close quarters rounding the first turn and had to ease back, was then outrun to the stretch turn, after which he, moved up fast on the outside to take command and win going away. OUR LOVE was never too far from the Dace and took, a short lead an eighth out, but-was unable to hold the winner. WILLIAM MORTON was badly outrun for over six furlongs, then made up ground. BALAS GEM was a good contender from the start and appeared to be weakening when she seemed to swerve at midstretch. The stewards held an. inauiry following the running to determine whether or not BALAS GEM had met with interference from OUR LOVE, but the original-placing was allowed to stand. RIDGEFLEET tired.
