Hit Parade Begins 1954 Campaign With Triumph Shows Way Home to Suffolk Foes; DeSpirito Aboard Four Winners By JOE HIRSCH SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 27. — A. A. Crabbes Hit Parade made an auspicious 1954 debut today, with a length-and-a-half victory over Busy Signal in the featured Sharon Heights Purse. The six-year-old campaigner, held smartly off the pace by Jimmy Mayer, began his stretch move on the outside and outdistanced the pace-setting Busy Signal and the favored Go Go Go. Hit Parade returned .00. The veteran son of Swiv — Willow Song won a total of 3,000 last season and was in the money 12 times in 16 starts. He felt at home in the six-furlong event this afternoon and was timed at 1:10% for the sprint. Busy Signal stepped off quickly and held a small advantage through most of the race. Go Go Go closed on the leader and the pair were battling at the turn when Hit Parade galloped past at the furlong pole and finished stoutly for the win: _ Tony DeSpirito won the plaudits of the 9,662 in attendance on this brilliant afternoon with four big victories on Plucky Willie in the first, Be-gin in the fourth, Cold Jack in the sixth and Neros Mermaid in the eighth.
