False Start Mars Sixth Race at Ascot Park Track Just Abbe Suffers Mostly From Mishap; Dutch King Victorious By RONALD KRANCER Staff Correspondent ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 27. — The running of the sixth race was marred this afternoon by a false start. Three of the scheduled starters broke while the doors of the gate locked and it was "impossible for the others to come out. Of the three who came out Dutch King and Master Brian were almost immediately pulled up by their riders. However, Just Abbes rider, Richard Westfall, evidently did not know what had occurred and completed nearly six furlongs. The latter finished last. The race was taken by Mrs. Charlotte Wheelers Dutch King who was ridden by Dante Rizzo. John Surbers Keen Tulip was second, two lengths back and another head to the good of Master Brian at the end of the mile and sixteenth. Dutch king, a gelded son of the Maryland sire, Alaking, "was "winning for the second time this year and paid .00, completing the trip in 1 :47%. Dutch King was the first non-favorite of the afternoon to win. A crowd of nearly 4,000 turned out as this meeting nears its end. Dutch King was last in the early stages, being hard held by his rider. While on the backstretch the eventual winner improved his position somewhat, but did not actually project himself into the picture until the final quarter of a mile. At that time the horse was moving very rapidly, while on the outside of horsres and after disposing of Keen Tulip in early stretch drew clear to win under mild urging. Just Abbe, after having already run "his" race, turned in a poor performance as was expected. The horse, after breaking best, dropped back after the first quarter quarter of a mile and was beaten almost 272 lengths. Ed Davis Grixdale, ridden by Tony Licata, scored a popular length and one-half tally over Mad Quest, with Cittern showing in the opening event. Grixdale was winning for the second time this season and paid .00, running the four and one-half furlongs in :53%. The favorite, Gift Package, also accounted for the second event at six and one-half furlongs when the Daniels color-bearer reached the wire a length to the good of Flax who went wide on the near turn. Blue Time was third and Sonnybras, fourth. Gift Package -was taking her first race of the year and paid .4l being Continued on Page Thirty-Firo False Start Mars Sixth Race at Ascot Park Track Just Abbe Suffers Mostly From Mishap; Dutch King Victorious , Continued from Page Three timed in 1:22%. The daily double returned 0.80. Co-Features will once again be run here on Friday with the seventh race at six and one-half furlongs and the eighth race over seven furlongs. The latter race has attracted a field of nine which includes Admiral Glit. War Fighter, Mr. Sharp, Sir Brook, Temple Bar, Bragas Ernie O., Chili-bones, and Blessette. War Fighter looked good in winning here on Tuesday when at four and one-half furlongs she gained command in the late stretch and drew clear to win by a length. Admiral Glit scored at long odds and must also be conceded a good chance in this contest. Others that must be considered are Temple Bar, Blessette, and Ernie O. The sixth race will see Ihtellengcer try for a repeat and will probably be the choice. Slated to face him are Sussex Circle, Ilex, Foochow Valley, Rain Dear S., Ace Flight, Lady Director, and Bee On. Wilmer C. Ensors highly regarded Hoco-tia, who is to be ridden by apprentice Walter Blum in Saturdays Gold Cup, was on the track this morning and worked five furlongs in 1:06%, breezing. Another Gold Cupper drilling was Mrs. Fred Sharpes The Preem who went six panels in 1:20. The latter closed some ground last week in the Victory Plate. Jimmy Francis, who is registering horses at ThistleDown, requests that horsemen get their badge lists and foal papers in as early as possible. Francis, who serves as clerk of scales at ThistleDown, has been working in the secretarys office since Wednesday.
