Ten Claimers Compete In Beulah Park Dash My Josephine Dropping Down Notch and May Rule Fayorite By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 27. — The final early week-erid card lor Friday is again dedicated to the platers which are not too highly valued. In the seventh and feature spot is a six-furlong dash for sophomores, exclusively. These can be taken for either ,500 or ,250 and there are 10 from which to choose. Making up the field are the Locust Grove Farms Gemboy, the Foursome Farms Honey Bay, H. C. Beattys Three Hoops, R. Trupos Gold Watch, R. Meyers and B. Wilkins Truly Fair, Fineman and Watsons Debbie Smith, Ward Davis Hainey River, J. E. Meyers My Josephine, Cable M. Gibson and H. Bishops Deerlick and Miss C. Vesters Cathy Girl. My Josephine has had three outings at this meeting and has improved considerably with each try. The Rockwood Landy fillys first two efforts were over an "off" strip and among a better grade than she asked to meet here. As .a two-year-old she went either in fair allowance company or with a ,500 tag attached and did garner a win and a second to earn ,100. She is dropping down the ladder some and could be a bit formidable. As a secondary offering racing secretary Eugene V. Bury has carded a mile affair for four-year-olds and older campaigners valued at a flat ,000. There are nine drawn on the overnights and while the contestants are not the classiest there are winners at the meeting included. Mrs. J. Bronnenbergs Shooters Hill and J. W. Frye and P. L. Sloops Flying Platter graced the charmed circle in their respective last outings. The former completed the second half of a 46.00 daily double last Wednesday and was sent six furlongs in 1:12% to be half a length the best of Debs Daughter. The Hyperionion gelding is sharp at this point and will be aiming at a consecutive set of brackets. Flying Platter was the first half of the daily double last Tuesday and amid the same sort of ,000 company in which Shooters Hill scored. This Top Billing gelding was four lengths the best of E. C. Piatts Lena Deen while doing the six furlongs in 1:13 Vs. It will be interesting to note how much the difference in time will make in this contest. Rounding out the field are R. L. Berks Narragansett, M. E. Neffs Flashy Kay, Hawkins and Osbornes Broken Crown, C. Wisbeys Gold Denarius,. G. A. Brockways Maids Son, L. M. Schulls Clip, and Purley Bowers Running Girl, also an impressive victor at the meeting". Summer has evidently come to this Central Ohio sector and it was warmer today than it has been any day during the first 16 days of this 19-day meeting. The temperature was in, the high 70s this afternoon and the upward of 4,800 fans on hand appeared to relish the bright sunlight which made the track faster today than it Continued on Page Thirty-Niner , * „ I Ten Claimers Compete In Beulah Park Dash My Josephine Dropping Down Notch and May Rule Fayorite Continued from Page Six has been even though cut up some earlier in the day. Jockey Guillermo Silva, who led the race ! for the honors in the riding colony until last Monday, moved into closer pursuit of jockey Billy Sackett here this afternoon when he guided a double in the first four races. The score now stands with 21 winners for Sackett and 20 for Silva. H. C. Harners Navy Ace which completed an 9.40 Daily Double was Sacketts first victor of the day. Navy Ace was third choice in the betting and returned .20 to those who supported him with nominal investment. C. W. Freemans Orphan Doc was the second winner for the popular reinsman and he sent this Sweep Like gelding the mile in 1:39 flat. A popular choice among the fans, Orphan Doc paid ,40 to win.
