Mrs. Trotsek underwent surgery for gall stones and an inflamed appendix and is doing nicely. Trotsek will leave for Lincoln Fields on Saturday evening to saddle Sea O Erin in the Peabody Memorial on Monday and be back here on Tuesday . . . Mr. and Mrs. William Woodward planed to London, England, to witness the running of the Epsom Derby in which he will be represented by Ambler H. . . . Trainer Eddie Regan of the Short Brook Farms decided to maintain his headquarters here for the summer months and van starters, stakes and handicaps, to the New Jersey scene . . . Track superintendent Dick Strickland at Jamaica reported that the work on the racing strip was completed and that training can now be conducted over the entire surface. Holes along the inside, and insufficient drainage brought about the work. John C. Clark, president of Hialeah, was a Clubhouse guest yesterday afternoon . . . Robert S. Lytle, the Calif ornian, and owner of the Belmont hopeful Correlation, was a clubhouse visitor during the afternoon. He plans to go to Garden State on Saturday where his colt will be a starter in the Jersey Stakes . . . Harry Stirling of Sydney, Australia, a racing enthusiast of that country, was a clubhouse visitor yesterday. He was a guest of Charles McAdam, the news syndicate man . . . Pete-Williams, manager of P. L. ■ Grissoms Duntreath Farm in Kentucky, was a recent arrival and will stay for several days. Trainer Hanford arrived this morning with a draft of horses, headed by the Top Flight candidate La Corredora, owned by Mrs. Marion OConnor. The horses came up ,frbm Maryland . . . Trainer Bobby Greene may ship Sunshine Nell, owned by Meyer J. Kaplan, to Garden State for her engagement in the Colonial . . . Jockey Johnny Adams will plane out to Chicago on Saturday evening to ride Sea O Erin for the Hasty House Farm in the Peabody on Monday . . . Jockey Sidney Cole packed his boots and saddles and moved over to Delaware Park for that meeting ... Arthur Godfrey of the television media was among the early arrivals. His racing colors were shown for the first time when Jockey A. Catalano galloped Lord Willin postward. The silks, a present from Bernard Baruch and made by Mrs. Legere, are sea blue, white shoulder braces, sea blue and white half sleeves, quartered cap. Sea blue is similar to the air force blue uniforms. Sheldon Fairbanks, who took over a division of the Maine Chance Farm, arrived this morning from New Jersey and assumed, his post . . . Jockey Dave Gorman canceled his mounts for the afternoon and went to the Physicians Hospital for a physical check-up . . . P. L. Grissom of Detroit was on hand to witness his Inahmoud start in the National Stallion and following the running planed back to Detroit . . . Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hertz were among the early visitors and witnessed the featured offering . . . Spencer Eddy came down from Saratoga Springs, -N. Y., for the big week end of racing. Funeral services for Hugh Gormley were held yesterday morning on Long Island. The veteran maintained a small farm on the Island and during the first part of the century boarded, trained and. developed steeplechasers in addition to racing a few on the flat. Of late years his efforts have been confined to show horses. He was in his late seventies, according to friends . . . Jockey Hank Moreno accepted his first mount during the afternoon following a grounding period of 10 days. His brother Pete, who suffered chipped bones in his leg when thrown from a horse a couple of weeks back, hopes to resume galloping in another 10 days or so ... W. J. "Bud" Hylahd will serve as assistant clerk of the scales during the absence of Warren Mehrtens* He served in an official capacity at Pimlico during that meeting . . . Trainer Jimmy Smith will ship the horses owned by William J. Ziegler to Delaware Park for that .meeting. Jockqy Willie Lester will v . accompany the menage and do. the riding.
