Clock Correlation For Six Furlongs Jersey Stakes Choice Works Distance in 1 :5Vs; Name Probable Field of Eleven By FRED GALIANI GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 27. — Robert Lytles Correlation, who will -be even money or less to add the Jersey Stakes here Saturday to his list of victories this year, was given a six-furlong breeze this morning. Working over the fast strip, he stepped the distance in 1:15%. The only other candidate for the 0,000 mile and an eighth event on the track was King Ranchs High Gun, who worked a mile in 1:43, handily. There has been only one change in the probable starting line-up. The racing secretarys office was notified this morning that C. V. Whitneys Catspaw would be shipped down rbr the three-year-old race. Catspaw, winner of two races this season, was an also-ran behind I Geegee in the first half of the Delaware Valley Stakes. Larger Field Than Expected The starting field has turned out to be larger than expected, apparently Correlation not scaring off too many intended starters. The challengers of the California colt are Brookf ield Farms I Geegee, Joseph Gavegnanos Coastal Light; H. P. Headleys Pinetum, Howard Jones For Free, King Ranchs High Gun, Charles Lawrences Opera Light, Llangollen Farms Ordained, W. C. Partees Winning Count, Mrs. J. R. H. Thourons War of Roses and Woodley Lane Farms Red Hannigan. Under the conditions of the Jersey, Correlation, the only one to win a race of 0,000, will carry the top poundage of 126 pounds. The others will pick up imposts determined by their money earning ability. The lowest- possible assignment is 111 pounds. Considering the fragmented condition of the sophomore ranks, especially in respect to the more outstanding ones, the Jersey field of possibly 13 starters out of a nomination list of 89 is a sizable one. This will be the 13th running of the Jersey, which has been renewed annually since the track opened its gates in 1942, when it was won by Salto. The most prominent winner on its roster is Calumet Farms Citation. The track has been on the deep side at this meeting and it is unlikely that the nine furlong mark, of 1:48%, set by Cosmic Bomb in 1947, will be threatened.
