Collisteo and Pancho Drill Mile in 1:40£ at Woodbine Prep for Engagements in Next Wednesdays Plate Trial No. 2 By JACK AYERS Staff Correspondent TORONTO, Ont., May 27.— The Bur-Fit ..Stables Tandem of Collisteo and Pancho, which is expected to go in the ninety-fifth running of the Queens Plate, a solid third choice to the McMacken Stables King Maple and E. P. Taylors Queens Own, gave indication they are ready to prove competent competitors in Wednesdays mile and 70 yards of Plate Trial Number two, when they drilled a mile in 1:40% here this morning. Breaking head and head from the seven-eighths pole, the Bur-Fit pair went the eight panels in 1:40%, after moving the half mile in :48%, six furlongs in 1:14 and seven furlongs in 1:27. At the end of the move, it was Collisteo who skipped six furlongs in 1:11% in his successful split of last Saturdays Plate Trial "Number One that appeared to have most in reserve. Jockey Chris Rogers will come here from New England to pilot Collisteo in the Guineas. Vince Sheridans Sunnycourt, strapping son of Sgt. Spence and Boot Camp and who finished a distant third to Collisteo and Dr. L. H. Applebys Hi Laude in Plate Trial Number One, completed another mile trial in 1:42% at the same training session. Sunnycourt went alone in andis move and the fact he has never been considered a good "work horse" the trial was most pleasing to owner Sheridan and trainer Pete Keiser. Trochanter, who will carry the banner of the Armstrong brothers in the "Woodbine classic and who finished third, beaten a length and a half for all the money in the recent six-furlong Plate Trial, was another Plate eligible that moved a mile alone on Thursday. Breaking from the stand, the son of Bunty Lawless and Inflation came back to that point in 1:41%. He both looked and rated good. Best short move among the Guinea can didates was the six-f urlong spin of the Hon. Lucien Maynards Mr. Speaker, who was clocked in 1:14. Along with Hi Laude, Mr. Speaker will carry the hopes of west--ern Canada into the coveted Queens Plat*?.
