MEN0LENE showed first out of the gate, retained her advantage under brisk handling into the first turn, then was steadily urged in the stretch drive while holding COURTESY safe. The latter was steadied lightly when unable to outsprint MEN0LENE to the first turn, saved all possible ground, again lodging her challenge from the head of the stretch and was gaining slightly at the end. FANTINE BUSHER began well, lost some distance racing out in the strip and finished well under punishment to be safely best of the others. RED LETTER DAY could not keep up early, saved ground and finished well. SMART DEVIL began fast, but could not stay with the pace and lost considerable ground " racing outside of horses. FIERCE had speed and faltered. GAY REAPER began slowly. REDDY R0 was done after three.-eighths. Scratched— 17723 Bit o Dream, 113; 176692 Delta, 116. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. SEASCAPE, always within striking distance, was under prolonged punishment in the stretch run and, saving ground, outfinished INLET MISS. The latter was restrained closest to the pace, assumed command when ready, but bore out badly on the stretch turn and, after regaining a clear lead, suddenly faltered near the end. HURRY-SKURRY gradually made up distance into the stretch, then hung. EAST BAY was a prominent factor and weakened. TURKEY BOOTS had no excuse. MEG MARSH gave a dull effort.
