Dogoon Breezes Easy Three-Eighths in :36% Drake Homebred Is Prepping for Livonia Stakes at Detroit Course By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent DETROIT RACE COURSE, Livonia, Mich., May 31. — Dogoon, E. Gay Drakes homebred three-year-old colt, visited the last track here his morning and breezed an easy three-eighths of a mile in :36%. The son of The Doge and Swoon, who met defeat by Mrs. A. M. Creechs Styrunner at Churchill Downs in his initial 1955 outing, makes a splendid physical appearance at • present. The Drake stable star probably will make his next start in the ,500 Livonia Stakes here Saturday, June 18. Dogoon is no stranger to Motor City racing followers. During his juvenile campaign he won the Lads and Lassies Stakes and the Governors Stakes at the local course. Under the allowance terms of the Livonia, Dogoon, winner of 5,955 last year, will shoulder high weight of 122 pounds. Allowing for the fact that the Drake colt may have been in need of his Churchill Downs race, it is quite likely that he will be favored over the three-year-olds he will clash with in the Livonia. Entries for the six furlongs Livonia Stakes close on next Saturday, June 4. In the meantime at-thelocal oval, interest is centering on 4he 0,000 Rose Leaves Stakes, a six-furlong filly and mare event. Max Zipkins-Gay Warbler, a candidate for this stake race, was out for a five-furlong breeze early today, moving along nicely in 1:02%.
