Pep 10-3 Favorite Over Cam For Tonights Video Battle - BOSTON, Mass., May 31 UP.— Ex-featherweight champion Willie Pep was a 10-to-3 favorite today to give East, Bostons Joey Cam a boxing lesson in their 10-round, television bout at Boston Arena Wednesday night. The 33-year-old Pep thought the odds were a little high in his fayor and was aiming for an early knockout to keep his aging legs from tiring. Cam, 24, is classed as a likely comer but has not yet reached Peps level in ring ratings. The cagey Connecticut veteran— with 16-years of boxing behind him — will be appearing in Boston for the first time since Tommy Collins knocked him out on June 30, 1952. The fight, which will be telivised ABC, is a replacement for the postponed championship bout between lightweight Jtitlist Jimmy Carter and Wallace "Bud" Smith. The Carter-Smith bout was rescheduled for Boston Garden June 29 when the champion withdrew from the earlier date because of illness. New England televiewers will be blacked out to spur attendance.
