COSMIC LASS assumed a contending position soon after the start, forged to the front inside the stretch and under adept handling held MISS ATLAS safe. The latter, slow to gain best stride, came fast when shaken for the drive and closed with good energy in a sharp effort. KAREN GIRL raced TIMELY LASS into defeat to take command after three fdrlongs," faltered when punished during the final furlong and was unable to cope with the top ones. HELLO RITA, away fastest, dropped back immediately after the start, then failed to respond sufficiently when set down for the ultimate test. BERNO tired. PETITE CHERI and TIMELY LASS failed to stay. RUSH ALONG moved up menacingly nearing the furlong marker, was unable to overtake the winner when roused for the drive, but held on willingly to easily prevail over the others. BLUE RICHES, much used setting the early pace, had little left when the real test came. MUFTI raced evenly through the late stages without apparent mishap. RUTH HANSON and STOCK EXCHANGE were outrun. SWEET NELL, never far back, came between horses to reach closer contention leaving the final turn, responded when shaken to take command during the late strides and gamely held MURPHS DEB safe. The latter, sluggish early, worked her way forward on the outside to the stretch, then closed with good energy in a sharp effort. GOD CHILD ducked sharply to the inside when going to the front nearing the furlong marker, faltered when punished thereafter and was unable to cope with the top ones. WINNING STRIDE lacked the necessary rally. INCIDENTALLY, forced to take up slightly when in close quarters entering the stretch, was unable to recover. MAKE A PLAY raced wide.
