RAY N JAY went to the front early, raced RACHELS rHr-. feat before enterin9 the stretch, then responded to strong handling during the drive and held HAVENESS and WHY STEP safe. HAVEN ESS, well placed from the start, closed strongly when hard ridden I-awaj slretch couId not reach the top one. WHY STEP raced evenly to the stretch, bumped with dt.urin.g the drve« tnen finished determinedly under punishment. DUMPLIN CREEK swerved repeatedly after rx the u break and, after bumping CHIEF JOE, raced steadily but could not reach the leaders. SAVATE had a rough trip through the stretch. PAY TRAIN was never dangerous and had no mishap. RACHELS GAL began fast, raced with RAY N JAY to the stretch but failed to stay when set down for the drive. SHORT WAY raced greenly. PLEASING tired after showing early speed. CHIEF JOE, roughed by DUMPLIN CREEK after the start, failed to recover. KERNEL STU was thiough early. MOON LOVE, under light restraint to the slretch was sent between horses during the drive and, after taking command, lasted to hold MIGHTY ROAN safe The latter lacked early speed, steadily improved his position after the initial quarter mile, then finished fast on the outside but could not overtake the top one. BROAD CROSS, never far back, reached the lead in the stretch but faltered when nearing the finish. FEUDING gave a qood effort and had no mishap. BUSTER JIM had a rough race DANGEROUS DAN was never prominent. GOLD FLASH raced well until inside the stretch, then weakened. SIR FAY showed little. JACKIE VAN quit sfter showing early foot. GOOD TIMES began fast, raced THE SPY Into defeat before entering the stretch, settled for the drive with a clear lead but was briskly handled thereafter to retain his advantage to the finish. MISS MELODY, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the outside for the drive and closed fast but could not get to the winner, although easily best of the others. B. PROMPT made a good bid in the early stretch, then weakened. LITTLE LIGE could not better his position when set down in the drive. JOFIELD tired during the stretch run. CROWN WINNER showed nothing. HEART LEAF was -through early. THE SPY failed to stay after racing with GOOD TIMESJor a half mile. MR. WIGGINS bad brief speed.
