WAS A MAN was closest to the pace early and had nothing left for the drive. N0THER SPEECH closed strongly after being far back early. PLAY TORCH had no excuse. R0YALDINA lacked speed. CAROL S. was carried wide. ERRARD BOY ran out leaving the turn. LOWER DECK ran out rounding the turn. DADDYS CREOLE was well placed early and quit. TURF MONEY, A SCHEDULED STARTER, STUMBLED AND UNSEATED HER RIDER WHILE WARMING UP DURING THE POST PARADE, RAN OFF SIX FURLONGS, WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN AND ALL WAGERS ON HER WERE REFUNDED. RIVER made the pace from shortly after the start, drifted out sharply approaching the furlong post and held ALLAH-VHY safe. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of ALLAH-VHY was not allowed. The latter was rated along while in good position and saving ground and was not good enough when set down for the drive. SUMMER DUCK drove between horses when gaining best stride and closed resolutely. BAD NEWS had no excuse. THE SLIP raced wide. Won driving; second and third the same. BLACK COBRA dropped back on the turn when bearing out, swung beyond the middle of the track entering the stretch, displaced GREAT PROPHET and drew away. The latter had speed from the outset and shortened strides in the final furlong. ST. JOE was a sharp factor from the break and faltered through the drive. MOVIE QUEEN had no excuse. BLENMINT was on nearly even terms for command while on the outside and outgamed RING FLEET. The latter vied for command from the start and faltered nearing the end. NINA PAL, steadied while never far back, failed to respond for the final quarter mile. GRAY NIGHT stumbled at the start. FAR SAIL tired after vying for command the opening six furlongs. TWINTONE forged through on the rail along the backstretch to be on nearly even terms for command, permitted MIDLAND TRAIL to challenge on the rail, came again and drew clear in the final furlong. The latter went through on the inside to gain a narrow advantage, faltered nearing the end and finished in a dead-heat for place with ROCKBRIDGE. The latter, within striking distance from the start, lacked a closing rally and finished on even terms with MIDLAND TRAIL. WINDSOR KNOT went up to be a. sharp contender on the final turn and failed to respond thereafter. TALION weakened from her early effort. RED MARTLET climbed and was far back. MARAUD showed nothing.
