Chicago Downs Opens Annua! Meeting Next Monday Night CICERO, HI., May 31.— Forty-eight nights of top harness racing with the nations foremost stables competing, opens at Sportsmans Park Monday, June 6. There will be nine races nightly except Sundays. The final racing program at , the West Side race track will be Saturday. July 30. The local. track, now in the midst of a j big improvement program, recently completed the new steel and concrete grandstand. This increased seating accommodations to more than 12,000. It also offers more room in the betting concourse which is entirely enclosed to assure the fans comfort in case of inclement weather. This point is being stressed due to the fact that the Downs officials have a "rain or shine" policy, which means that the races are run regardless of the weather conditions. Not a single racing program has been cancelled at the West Side track in more than two years. The two top floors of-the clubhouse are being air-conditioned and last year an elevator was installed there, running to the top floor. Another elevator is being installed in the center of the grandstand. The parking facilities also have come in for their share of improvements. A new entrance on the south end of Cicero Ave., will be opened in time for the coming meeting. A new cyclone fence also is being erected along the Cicero Avenue frontage.
