Seven Two-Year-Old Fillies Entered In Delaware Parks Myrtlewood Purse Mabe Cee, Catchpenny and Victory Medal Eligibles To Polly Drummond, Clash DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 31. — The ,000 Myrtlewood Purse, designed exclusively for two-year-old fillies, features Wednesdays sport at Delaware Park and six of the seven lassies entered overnight will be moving toward the 0,000 added Polly Drummond Stakes to be renewed Wednesday, June 8. Both races are contested over the five furlongs distance. Heading the field are John H. Clarks Mabe Cee and Brandywine Stables Catchpenny, whose last public appearances came in Garden States Rancocas Stakes. Others in the Myrtlewood are Larry S. MacPhails Victory Medal, I. J. Collins Mono Lady, Jumping Brook Farms Snobbish, Circle M Farms Trojan Lady and Beverley Brouns Lancaster Rose. The latter is the lone member of the field who was not made eligible to the Polly Drummond. Mabe Cee Earns Dead Heat Mabe Cee, a daughter of Fighting Step,, finished in a dead heat with Poor John while running five furlongs down the Widener chute at Belmont Park in :59%, then came back 10 days later to win impressively in :59. The latter effort earned her a starting position in the Rancocas and she turned in a splendid effort to be third •behind Pretty Plunger and Spanish 3ueen. Catchpenny was a trailer in the Rancocas but was reported to have suffered a rough trip. Prior to that she was third behind Doubledogdare and Supple in the filly division of the National Stallion Stakes after having won a Jamaica event by four lengths over a sloppy track. The Rancocas marked her first unplaced effort after having shared in the purse distribution in five consecutive starts. Victory Medal is one of the royally bred fillies in the MacPhail string and she certainly cannot be faulted, having won her lone outing in impressive fashion. The daughter of Polynesian covered five furlongs at Pimlico in 1:01% and improvement is anticipated off the effort. Mono Lady and Trojan Lady were fifth and sixth, as named at Belmont Park on May 19 and the winner of that affair was Mabe Cee. There is little reason to suspect that they will turn the tables on that filly in the Mrytlewood. Snobbish, a fleet one in Florida, trailed in the Fashion Stakes-in New York but is certainly better than that effort. Lancaster Rose is a first-time starter by the former stakes winner, Cochise. The Montchanion Handicap series, designed for horses which have run for ,500 or less since October i, has its first running Wednesday. Ths seres, which has proved extremely popular in.the past, increases in value and distance with each running and tomorrows race is At a mile and a sixteenth for a purse of ,000. Entered overnight are Gallant Junior, Hoplite, Cling To, My Truly Fair, The Posse, Fleet Argo and G-Two.
