Straight Face Works Good Mile at Belmont Steps Distance in 1 :39Vs With Fractions of :48 and 1:13 Flat BELMONT Park, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., , May 31. — Greentree Stables 1954 Suburban winner, Straight Face who disappointed sadly when racing on the inside rail in his recent return to racing in a sprint, turned in a good mile on the fast main track here this morning. Working alone, the son of Count Fleet stepped the distance in 1:39%, handily, with fractions of :48 and 1:13. Straight Face may be seen in the one mile Manhasset Handicap, an overnight event next Saturday. Work watchers were agreeably impressed with the nine-furlong prep by Laudy Lawrences Belmont Stakes dark horse, Jabneh. The vastly improved son of Bim-elech from the stakes winning Bellesoeur was clocked the mile and a furlong in 1:53%, finishing strongly after a mile in 1:40%. Jabneh will not get in another race before the Belmont on June 11, a race that was intended for him last Saturday having failed to fill. Over on the training track, C. V.
