i Turf Writer Jules Scharman Succumbs After Long Illness . BELMONT PARK,. Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 2. — The Belmont Park press box was saddened today by word that veteran turf writer and handicapper, Jules Scharman, had died at 4:00 a. m. this morning at his home in Rockville Center. Scharman, who. was born in Brooklyn 56 years ago, had been for many years on the staffs of the Philadelphia News and Armstrongs Daily Sports Sheet. Though he had been in poor health for the past two years, Scharman put in a full days work yesterday. Scharman is survived by his widow, Myrtle, and a stepson, Howard Scharman. Funeral services will be held at the Forbell Funeral Home, 77 Lincoln Ave., Rockville Center, L. I., at 8:30 p. m., tomorrow, to be followed by cremation. It has been requested that no flowers be sent, with those wishing to express their sympathy in this manner being asked to make an equivalent donation to the Heart Fund.
