Pair of Distaff Events On Belmont Park Card Bless Pat Strathmore Choice; Brown Warbler Heads Northport By BOB HORWOOD Staff Correspondent BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 2. — The female of the species again provides the feature attractions at Belmont Park tomorrow, with three-year-olds meeting at seven furlongs in the Strathmore Purse and three-year-olds and upward vie-ing at six panels in the Northport, which precedes it as the iifth event. More often than not, apart from the Saturday and holiday programs, it seems that racing secretary Frank E. "Jimmy" Kilroe is forced to rely on f ilties and mares to provide something resembling feature events, with the condition races for the males of all ages being exceedingly difficult to fill. Pin Oak Farms Bless Pat, who. was beaten only a length, by High Voltage in the Black-Eyed Susan at Pimlico last out and raced well at Keeneland before that, appears the class of the Strathmore field and probably will be favored with Hedley Woodhouse in the saddle at 120 pounds. "Slim" Pierces charge has been training well- over the local course. Nelson I. Asiel*and Tarquilla and Calumet Farms Mims also carry 120 pounds in this event. Tarquilla won her last two starts here, taking a slow six-furlong event, then coming back to score at tomorrows distance in a creditable l:241/and, showing a high turn of speed all the way and drawing out a bit at the end. George Glassner will again be in the saddle. Mims comes from a very poor effort at a mile and a furlong, in which she was a weary seventh behind Misty Morn, with AL WELLMAN — Owner-trainer of Dateline surprise winner of yesterdays third race at ThistleDown. * SIDNEY I. CREW— Celtic Boy and Chan-zibar scored in his colors on yesterdays River Downs program. only A. *K. Andersons Flat Side behind her. However, the daughter of Bull Lea — Proud One had won her previous start at a mile and a sixteenth. Eddie Arcaro will again be aboard. C. T. Chenerys Manotick, who will be ridden by Dave Gorman at 114 pounds, turned in a surprisingly good race in last Saturdays Coaching Club American Oaks, finishing third to High Voltage and Lalun, beaten four and a half lengths for all the money after having the lead at the end of a mile. If she can repeat that performance, Manotick will, obviously be very dangerous. The Strathmore field is completed by Linda Farms Lady Atom, who may need a race; Wheatley Stables Long Stretch, who finished between Two Stars and Hurry By on May 13, and Flat Side. Ted Atkinson will ride Long Stretch, who comes from a barn full of formidable fillies, while Eric Guerin will be on Lady Atom and Jimmy Hardinbrook has been named for Flat Side. Only six have been named for the North-port, with Saxon Stables Brown Warbler looming a short-priced favorite. This filly, who was claimed by Eddie Neloy for only ,500 from a winning race on May 19, came back to be a good third to Mohawk Valley and Hurry By in an allowance event at a mile and a sixteenth. While tomorrows dash may be shorter than Brown Warbler likes, she doesnt have much to beat on recent form.* Maine Chance Farms Half as Much turned in a fair race to be fourth to Fan-ford at six furlongs on April 29 and is eligible to improve sharply under the care of Rannie Parish, while Rokeby Stables Far Pacific has good races to her credit in the past, but her most recent efforts have been dismal. Willie Lester will ride Half as Much, while Eddie Arcaror has-been named for Far Pacific* r *■ -
